At Virtual Innovation when we rebuild your new WordPress Website we want to make sure you don't lose any Search Engine Optimisation you may have from your current website. We do all the basics well that allow yourself and your SEO company to fly and getting you higher.

  1. Website Audit:

    • Conduct a base audit of the current site to gather all SEO-related data (page URLs, meta titles, descriptions, keywords, alt tags, etc.).
    • Export a sitemap for reference.
  2. URL Structure:

    • We ensure page URLs remain consistent with the old site. If changes are required, implement 301 redirects to avoid broken links and maintain SEO rankings.
  3. Meta Data Migration:

    • Migrate meta titles, descriptions, and keywords. We use Rank Math Premium (or Yoast SEO if required) to ensure the correct metadata is in place.
    • Check that all images have relevant alt tags that the previous site had and update them if necessary.
  4. On-Page SEO:

    • Maintain heading structures (H1, H2, etc.) and on-page content hierarchy.
    • Verify internal links remain intact and functional.
  5. Google Analytics & Search Console:

    • Link the new WordPress site to Google Analytics for tracking.
    • Set up Google Search Console to monitor the site's SEO performance post-migration.
  6. XML Sitemap & Robots.txt:

    • Generate a new XML sitemap and submit it to Google Search Console.
    • Review and update the robots.txt file to ensure it allows proper crawling of important pages.
  7. Redirect Management:

    • Implement 301 redirects for any URL changes.
    • Test all redirects to ensure they’re functioning correctly without redirect loops.
  8. Mobile Optimisation:

    • We ensure the new WordPress site is fully mobile-responsive and adheres to Google's mobile-first indexing guidelines.
  9. Testing & Performance:

    • Perform site speed tests and optimise load times using caching, minification, and other techniques. We love the 4 green circles on the Google page speed tool and work to get in the green where ever possible.
    • Test for broken links, especially after redirects.
